About The Author
My name is Malinda, although many in the Take That fandom will probably know me by my alias and Livejournal username Jelliclerose. My hometown is Stoke-on-Trent, England but I have also spent a lot of my life living on the island of Mahe, Seychelles, and I usually spend half the year in each place. I work as a proof-reader and editor, but writing is my favourite part of my job and I have even published my own book of short stories called At The Stage Door, as well as writing articles and other non-fiction projects. My favourite past time is the theatre; I am simply in love with the magic both on and off the stage and, as a regular stage-doorer at my favourite musical Cats, I have also come to know and love the amazing people who make their living performing in shows, meaning that I spend an awful lot of my free time travelling up and down the UK to support and catch up with my lovely theatre friends. When I'm not on my theatre adventures, my schedule does tend to be dictated by my local football team, Stoke City; I'm a season ticket holder and passionate fan and my weekends are often dominated by supporting my team, even if sometimes I go through phases where figure skating becomes the sport I'm more into, my local team will always be a part of who I am. I am also a serial TV addict, my greatest TV love being Veronica Mars, which has inspired me so much in my own writing (especially the beautiful relationship between Logan & Veronica) and which I was delighted to help bring back as a movie in 2014 by being one of the 91, 585 people who helped fund the Kickstarter campaign. My other big TV loves include CSI (Las Vegas), Green Wing, Red Dwarf, Charmed, Father Brown, Ghost Whisperer, Jeeves and Wooster, Hotel Babylon, Will & Grace, Jane The Virgin (but for a multitude of reasons I went off this about half way through S3) & Smash (where the ensemble characters were my obsession despite their tragic lack of the screen time they richly deserved!) As for reading, my favourite authors are Marian Keyes and Mhairi McFarlane, but I'm also a big P.G. Wodehouse fan, amongst too many others to name! Of course, as you will have guessed, Take That are another big interest of mine; I love their story, their personalities and their music, which always seems to appear in my life at just the time I need it, and my favourite member of the band has been and will always be Jason, whose beautiful soul fascinates me. Musically, I'm a fan of so many different genres, but my favourite artists besides Take That would probably have to be Taylor Swift, Busted and Mark Owen (solo.) My other big interest is figure skating - I adore the sport, even when it drives me insane, and some of my favourite moments in life have honestly been getting up at stupid times of day to watch skating competitions as the sun comes up or long after it's gone down, cheering for my favourite skaters' small personal victories and their achievements on the biggest stages. My favourite skaters include - buy are not limited to - Ashley Wagner, Adam Rippon & Maia & Alex Shibutani (USA) and Shoma Uno & Yuzuru Hanyu (Japan), all of whom have given me their fair share of highs and lows but all of whom I root for and admire greatly on and off the ice. I like to keep up with as much of the sport as TV, streams and timezones will allow and honestly after the 2018 Olympics my obsession grew to new heights as it was the first Olympic cycle I had followed from start to finish more or less completely and all of my favourites who made it there either won medals or achieved personal goals or both and it was a magical experience getting to watch it live, bizarrely as the sun was coming up in Seychelles!
